What is VocaNum?
VocaNum is an English vocabulary testing and practice app for iPhone. It helps you estimate the vocabulary you already recognize, then gives you focused practice for words that need another look.
How does VocaNum estimate how many English words I know?
The vocabulary test collects signals from your answers to word-recognition questions. VocaNum uses those answers to build an estimate rather than treating one correct answer as proof that every similar word is known.
Is the VocaNum vocabulary test free?
Yes. The public vocabulary test is free, takes about three minutes, and does not require an account.
Does VocaNum teach grammar or speaking?
VocaNum is intentionally focused on English vocabulary. It measures and practices words; it is not a grammar course, speaking tutor, or general language-learning curriculum.
How is a vocabulary estimate different from a simple word count?
A vocabulary estimate is an inference from a set of answers, not a literal count of every word you have ever seen. VocaNum looks at multiple vocabulary signals and presents the result as an estimate of the vocabulary you are likely to recognize.
